Socotra Island witnessed unprecedented improvement in sports sector thanks to the continuous support by Khalifa Foundation, which worked on motivating sports through holding several sport events. It was largely welcomed and appreciated by people across Socotra.
Over years, Socotra witnessed several sport events to attract athletes from all districts across Socotra in coordination with Youth and Sport Office and General Association of Football in Socotra. Audience used to watch all championships and sport events such as the football league, youth championship, beach football and volleyball championships, seven-side football championship, Ramadan volleyball tournament, and Autumn Championship in Nujed, in addition to several events such as Ironman Championship, rowing and other events in Abd Al Kuri.
Captain Ismail Al Junaibi, Sports Official at Khalifa Foundation, mentioned that the Foundation worked on spreading sports, especially football, across Socotra through different kinds of support to athletes and clubs.
In turn, Saleh Yaslam, President of Radfan Club, highlighted that Khalifa Foundation always concerned with promoting sports across Socotra, such as Autumn Championship in Nujed and Ironman Championship. He also thanked Khalifa Foundation for its support to sports sector.
Mohamed Thani, President of Nujed Club, highlighted that support of Khalifa Foundation helped clubs in having successful activities and events. He also mentioned that the Foundation concerned with the youth during the last period, which resulted in remarkable improvement of sports in Socotra.
