Extensive Participation in the BuMubarak Volleyball Championship in Socotra

In Socotra, the BuMubarak Volleyball Championship for the governorate clubs was launched with the support of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.

All 18 clubs in the governorate, divided into four groups, participated in the tournament, which lasts for nearly a month.

At the launch ceremony of the tournament, which witnessed the presence of the Chairman of the Development Committee Sultan Ali bin Essa bin Afrar, the Director General of Police, Brigadier Ali Al-Dexami, and the Chairman of the Transitional Council in the governorate, Engineer Raafat Al-Thaqali, who stressed the importance of the tournament in activating the sports movement and developing the sports capabilities of the volleyball players in the clubs. This championship comes within the sports activities supported by the Khalifa Foundation in the governorate. What made it special is that it bears the name of Bu Mubarak, the General Delegate of the Khalifa Humanitarian Foundation, who always dedicates his efforts for Socotra and its people and his keenness to meet their requirements in various fields.

Ahmed Hazoum, head of the Football Association branch, welcomed all the attendees at the opening of the tournament, which was held on the Sheikh Zayed Corniche in the capital, Hadiboh, explaining that the tournament witnessed equipment at the highest level to produce it in a distinctive and honorable way.

Hazoum, on behalf of the sports sector, valued the continuous support of the Khalifa Foundation for the sector, which is witnessing continuous activities, as it contributed to preserving young people and refining their abilities in various sports.

The start of the tournament witnessed the establishment of two matches, the first brought together Al-Jazira and Al-Mina clubs in the first group competitions and ended with the latter’s victory.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Secretary-General of the Federation, Saleh Ali, members of the association, a number of club heads, tribal identifiers, sheikhs and social figures.
