The Socotra Football Association in Socotra carried out the Bu Mubarak Ironman Race with the support of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.
Forty contesters from all clubs in the governorate participated in the competition, as it came within the sports federation’s plan to raise the capabilities of youth in the Archipelago.
The race started from the Holaf port by swimming to the beach with a length of 200 meters, then ran to the Prime Fish Factory with a length of 3 km and ended by riding bicycles along the asphalt road to Street 30 down Jamaa Street and passing through Street 20 in the center of Hadiboh City and exiting from it on Gold Market Street towards the valley and follow the road to the eastern side to reach the finish line at the volleyball court next to Sheikh Zayed Corniche, with a total distance of 9 km.
Al-Ittihad Club contestant Saeed Salem Jamaan won the first place, while Al Sadd Club racer Saleh Salem took the second place, and Al Nasr Club contestant Salem Awad took the third place.
In the honoring ceremony of the competition, Raed Al-Juraibi, Senior Deputy Governor, stressed the importance of organizing such individual sports activities for young people and their positive role in encouraging young people to exercise and care for them to maintain their health.
Al-Juraibi congratulated the winners of the first three places for their superiority in the race.
Al-Juraibi praised the support of the Khalifa Foundation in sponsoring the youth sector through its support for organizing various sporting events and activities at the governorate level.
Ahmed Hazoum, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Race, explained that the organization of the Bu Mubarak Ironman Race was part of the Federation’s annual plan to raise the efficiency of young people and encourage competition. He pointed out that the race achieved great success and a distinguished public follow-up.
Hazoum valued the permanent support of the Khalifa Foundation for Socotra sports sector and the keenness of its delegate to take care of the youth and sports sector and lift its reality for the better.
Where Al-Wakeel Al-Juraibi, Chairman of the Organizing Committee; Ahmed Hazoum; and Salem Daheq, and Member of the Development Committee, honored the winners of the first places with the financial prizes provided by the Khalifa Humanitarian Foundation.
Saeed Salem Jamaan, contestant who won the first place, expressed his happiness at his victory in the race. He thanked the Khalifa Foundation for its support, which organized such sports activities to urge young people to compete.
