Distribution of a New Batch of Fruit Seedlings to Socotra Farmers

The agricultural sector of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation distributed today a new batch of agricultural seedlings to farmers and owners of home gardens in Socotra Governorate.

The batch distributed today, which targeted the Taida center and the regions of Dishas and Asmhan, east of Socotra, amounted to 100 seedlings of fruits, with the aim of encouraging farmers in the regions to plant and enhance their production and agricultural yield.

Iyad Ali Abdulla, the agricultural engineer at the Khalifa Foundation, explained that the foundation’s distribution of this batch of agricultural seedlings to farmers in the Taida center comes as part of its efforts to encourage the people on the island to farm, especially those interested in home gardens to secure healthy food for the family from vegetables and fruits.

He pointed out that the Khalifa Foundation had previously distributed 3000 seedlings during the beginning of the current agricultural season in two batches, benefiting from the various regions and villages of the island.

Abdullah indicated that the seedlings were planted in the Foundation’s multiplication nursery on the island, as part of the Khalifa Foundation’s keenness and interest not to bring any seedlings from outside to preserve its environmental privacy and to continue to help farmers from the people in cultivation.

Sheikh Saleh Salem Mazroui, the chief of the Deshas square areas, said that distribution of this batch of seedlings to farmers in the Taidaa center and the Dishas and Assam regions is of great importance in encouraging local communities to plant and secure their requirements of fruits.

Sheikh Mazroui extended his thanks and appreciation to the brothers in the UAE represented by the Khalifa Humanitarian Foundation for its continuous giving towards the people of Socotra in all aspects, including the agricultural sector, which included all its regions.

The citizen at the Taida’ Ibrahim Abdullah Salem valued the development activity of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation on the island, of which the agricultural sector is one of its main pillars, adding that this batch of seedlings represents an opportunity for farmers in the Taida District to take care of agriculture and thus provide safe food. and healthy for their families.

He extended his thanks and appreciation to the general delegate on the island for his interest in Socotra and its people.
