The Socotra Cuisine Department of the Sultan Ali bin Isa bin Afrar Heritage Festival in Socotra Governorate presented the festival’s visitors with various Socotra dishes.

The festival, by dedicating a section for Socotra cuisine, provided an opportunity for the participants and visitors to the festival to learn about the distinctive types of Socotra dishes, as well as contribute to documenting them and introducing them to the new generation.

The festival’s visitors and participants will enjoy meals from a variety of Socotra cuisine, provided free of charge by the festival administration.

Chef Mohamed Ezzat said that the festival offers Socotra folk dishes and ancient Eastern sweets that vary between the days of the festival. He pointed out that Socotra women work in the Socotra kitchen, who have experience preparing popular meals such as bread, luqaimat and tea served to official figures and elderly guests of the festival, as well as to children.

The festival’s activities witnessed a large turnout of children and parents who came with their children to enjoy the festival’s various activities and paragraphs, including Socotra poetry, folk dances, and displays of handicrafts, in addition to the meals served to them.
