The Development Committee of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation was acquainted with the activities of model farms 1-2 in Hadiboh.
During the Foundation visit headed by Sheikh Ali bin Essa bin Afrar, the Committee listened to the explanation of the two engineers, Iyad Ali Abdella and Mohammed Al Kuwaiti, on the efforts afforded in the two farms funded by Khalifa Foundation to agriculture various kinds of vegetables and fruits and meet needs of the local market to ensure safe and healthy food for all Island residents.
Salem Dahiq, Member of Development Committee, said to Socotra Online that we witnessed the distinguished work in the model farms raising the level of production of vegetables and fruits in Socotra.
He indicated that the vegetables and fruits in the two farms were models to follow by all farmers in different places in Socotra ensuring that the Island soil was suitable for all kinds of vegetables and fruits.
Dahiq expressed his thanks to the United Arab Emirates and Khalifa Foundation for the developmental efforts in Socotra in various sectors including the agriculture sector.
In turn, the farmers expressed their thanks to Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for their contribution to provision of agriculture experts and feasibilities, and establishment of model farms, which started harvesting vegetables and fruits such as tomato, potatos, courgette and okra today.
