The Development Committee and districts’ chiefs and tribes’ chiefs in the Socotra Archipelago met yesterday, headed by the Head of the Development Committee, Sultan Ali bin Essa bin Afrar, and discussed the preliminary arrangements for holding the fourth collective wedding for 200 grooms and brides with the support of the Emirates Red Crescent.
The meeting addressed number of steps and procedures to prepare for the wedding, which would be held along the Fifth Edition of Sheikh Zayed Festival, in order to ensure the success of this social event and celebrate it in a distinctive way.
Salem Daheq Ali, Member of the Development Committee, confirmed that the first meeting of the Development Committee with tibes’ chiefs would discuss the establishment of the fourth collective wedding for 200 brides and grooms for this year 2021. It would be considered as an annual tradition with the support of the Emirates Red Crescent, pointing out that the development of a preliminary vision for the distribution of the number of brides to the centers to reach the financial support for the different regions and villages. He indicated that the wedding would be held along the events of the Fifth Edition of Sheikh Zayed Festival in Zayed City 1 in Satorah.
Suliman Abdullah Shalulha, Senior Sheikh of Socotra, mentioned that we were in the Sultan Ali bin Essa bin Afrar Council to discuss everything related to holding the fourth collective wedding presented by the Emirates Red Crescent for the youth of Socotra who have never been married before. He expressed gratitude and appreciation to the man of Development, His Excellency Khalfan Al Mazrouei, for his efforts to make the people of Socotra happy.
Sheikh Saeed Malik, Chief of Qabhaten, expressed his happiness that the Emirates Red Crescent continued to hold the annual collective wedding on the island, adding that the meeting stood in front of the initial and necessary arrangements for the wedding, which would make many families happy and would contribute to the elimination of celibacy.
