Detoh… the Virgin of the Reserves and Warehouses of Marine Life in Socotra

The Detoh Nature Reserve, located in the northwest of Socotra Island, is one of the most important tourist attractions and reserves that Socotra residents and visitors to the archipelago visit.

The Detoh Nature Reserve is characterized by white sand dunes and a creek, where the purity of the sea is one of the most important places that everyone prefers to bathe and spend fun times there, especially in the summer.

The population classifies the Detoh Reserve into a number of areas depending on the type of habitat, which affects the distribution of living aggregates, namely: “pure sand” is defined as pure coarse sand in shallow waters located directly behind the sand separating the sea and the creek, its depth reaches two meters. It has ship fish, and in particular there is a fish “Taeniura lymma” in addition to the type and rank and its scientific name (Himantura uarnak).

Where the reserve was classified among the best wet reserves and one of the most beautiful coasts in the world, and its images won many awards in international competitions.

Qalansiyah residents always come to it due to its proximity to the city, especially during sunset. Saadia camp is the most important camp in the reserve and the only one that provides some simple services for foreign tourists such as camping and the provision of some seafood meals.
