The United Arab Emirates, through its hand of charity; the Emirates Red Crescent, sent 60,000 vaccine doses to people of Socotra to promote efforts to fight COVID-19 pandemic.
With support of the Authority, vaccination process is currently ongoing for free at Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Hospital in Socotra targeting all people of the Socotra Archipelago.
This batch of vaccine doses is intended to provide further protection to vulnerable categories and the elderly, which will make Socotra as the first Yemeni governorate to receive the vaccine for all people without exception.
This step is in line with promoting efforts of the people of the UAE to limit spread of COVID-19 pandemic in line with its humanitarian and leading role in fighting the pandemic.
These vaccine doses will contribute to promoting the protective procedures and limit spreading the pandemic.
This initiative is a reflect of the approach of the United Arab Emirates and its continuous effort to support people of Yemen in all fields.
In this regard, the UAE has undertaken several-approaches plan to provide better health care services to all people of the Socotra Archipelago for years. In 2012, the UAE constructed Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Hospital to provide the necessary healthcare for people of Socotra.
This initiative comes with the great efforts of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation in all fields, which have large effect on arranging essential services to the people of Socotra.
