The delegation of Abu Dhabi Development Fund visited Socotra Governorate. During the visit, the delegation laid the foundation for 4 developmental plants in the Socotra Archipelago; Prime Fish, Tuna Preparation and Fish Drying, Prime Mineral Water and Juice, Prime Dates, and Prime Marine Salts Packaging.
These projects would contribute to providing requirements of the Governorate in these fields in addition to providing hundreds of job opportunities to the people of Socotra.
During the tour, the delegation checked Prime Fish Plant, which was considered as the main seller of products of fishermen, as it played a great role in supporting them. In addition, the delegation visited Holaf port, which was developed, expanded and fenced with support of Khalifa Foundation.
Furthermore, the delegation visited the project of expansion of Ali bin Abi Taleb School in Daihmed with 12 classes funded by Khalifa Foundation in addition to the medical center in order to recognize the essential needs for promoting the operations.
Saad Mohamed Khamis, Head of Al Wehda Association, expressed his appreciation to the efforts and continuous concern of the United Arab Emirates with developing the Governorate and promoting the fish sector with significant developmental projects.
Sheikh Faisal Al Basairi, Sheikh of Maala, highlighted the importance of these plants in Socotra in order to limit import of products such as tuna, mineral water, juice and salt, and Socotra would export these products soon.
