Within the framework of its keenness to advance the educational process on the island, which is one of the most important goals of the Khalifa Foundation, based on its firm conviction of the role of education in the progress of nations; working to develop the education system with its various components constitutes an urgent priority to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development, and a translation of this vision, the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has paid great attention to improvement of the educational sector in Socotra Governorate and the improvement of its scientific outputs, as part of its development efforts in the Archipelago.

The UAE worked on establishing and expanding many schools on the island, rehabilitating and maintaining a large part of them, and providing them with school furniture and books, in addition to providing school uniforms, supplies and other educational aids.

As part of the UAE support for the island, Ataya Model School for Primary Education was established, whose establishment was a new seed for an educated generation capable of excellence, scientific progress and keeping pace with the world.

It also constituted the Khalifa Foundation’s sponsorship of contracting with 760 teachers in addition to the assignment of more than 40 teachers to fill the shortage of teachers in the Education Office, and this step was a qualitative move in maintaining the stability and success of the educational process.

The Foundation was keen to provide transportation for high school students and rural schools and to operate them on a daily basis, as it operated a number of lines on the western and eastern coasts, all the way to Hadiboh. This initiative contributed to alleviating the suffering of hundreds of students on the island.

The UAE support for the education sector has contributed to the implementation of many programs, including the establishment of qualifying courses for teachers and reinforcement lessons for high school students, sponsoring methodological and cultural competitions, scientific trips, and honoring ceremonies for the top students in a number of schools, in addition to cultural and recreational activities for students of all levels.

The brothers’ support for the educational sector was praised and appreciated by the people of Socotra and the political and educational leaders who emphasized the efforts made by the white hands in the education sector, which represented the main axis in the continuation of the educational process on the island.
