Teams of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation continue its works in the western coast to provide the people of the western coast with electricity. The engineering teams work on completion of extension of main and subsidiary underground cables of Zayed Station 3 –Year of Tolerance in Alama in line with the great concern with electricity sector.
It was worth noting that the engineering teams work around the clock over night and day to install transformers and extend underground cables.
During field visit, the team of Socotra Online met group of people who confirmed their happiness and joy for power connection in their region. In this regard, Sheikh Said Hazmi Al Basiri assured that the Island in general suffered from lack of services, but existence of the United Arab Emirates represented by Khalifa Foundation and Emirates Red Crescent helped in establishing many service projects that support the people of the Island.
Mohamed Jamaan, resident in Salmaho, said that the people of this region have never dreamt of such great project supported by Khalifa Foundation. He also added that the underground cables would be great that it would not be affected by weather; thereupon, they would have an uninterrupted electricity. He also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the leaders and people of the United Arab Emirates.
It was worth noting that Khalifa Foundation adopted the electricity sector in the Socotra Archipelago and worked on establishment of five integrated power stations in different places across Socotra in addition to replacement of the overhead lines with underground cables.
