Completion of 70% of UAE Projects for Rehabilitation and Renovation of Socotra International Airport

The United Arab Emirates, through its humanitarian hand “Khalifa Foundation”, keeps implementation of projects of development, rehabilitation and renovation of Socotra International Airport. These projects are as completion of previous projects in the Airport to enable welcoming different kinds of planes all day long. It has become internationally recognized.

Socotra Online met Ahmed Saad, Director of Administrative Affairs and Supervisor of Construction and Development Works at Khalifa Foundation, mentioned that the Foundation worked on defining the harmed locations in the Airport and conducted a field survey to construct the mesh fence. The Foundation worked on constructing concrete and mesh fence to protect the Airport from floods. 70% of maintenance works have been completed. He also highlighted that Khalifa Foundation is working currently on renovation of special building for handling services.

In turn, Salem Mohamed, Public Relations Officer for the Development Project at Khalifa Foundation, highlighted that Khalifa Foundation was working on completion of a building for waiting and welcoming travelers to mitigate pressure on the Airport building. He also mentioned that Khalifa Foundation was working on construction of new car parking to facilitate cars flow and avoid crowd.
