The daily activity of the hygiene office team of the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation in Socotra Governorate continued to raise and remove waste from collection points, public streets and markets, to reduce overcrowding and to preserve the aesthetics of public places and the health of the community.
The team was making tangible efforts in Hadiboh by continuously removing waste from the points where waste containers were placed and transporting it through the vehicle designated for it, as well as cleaning commercial markets, the vegetable and fruit market and the main streets in the city, in addition to the shops and waste of Sheikh Khalifa Hospital on a daily basis, in addition to disposing of Remnants of the sacrifice of Al-Adha during the blessed Eid Al-Adha.
The team was keen to strengthen joint coordination with the Cleaning and Improvement Fund in the governorate in distributing workers and following up on work to benefit from the support provided by the Khalifa Foundation to clean the island and make it one of the cleanest places and commit to putting waste in its designated places.
The cleaning team organized a number of cleaning campaigns in valleys, torrents and solid waste collection sites, in coordination and with the participation of government agencies in the governorate, to get rid of the accumulated waste quantities caused by indiscriminate throwing by citizens and the lack of awareness of the danger these wastes produce to human life.
The hygiene team contributed to preserving the archipelago’s environment through its daily activities and established hygiene campaigns that target places that pose a threat to the marine wildlife environment and the sites of spread and presence of plastic and raise them frequently, especially before the rains, floods and intensified winds during the autumn season to reduce their danger and pollution. With the approaching Eid Al-Adha, the team is making double efforts to remove the waste that has accumulated in clothing markets and stalls along the markets and commercial streets and their surroundings.
The hygiene activity achieved wide official and popular accolades for its contribution to the disposal of pollutants and the preservation of the island’s natural environment.
