Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in the Socotra Archipelago performed Cholecystectomy (Gallbladder Removal) yesterday, which was the first of kind in Socotra.
An official at the Hospital highlighted that this was in line with the continuous developmental efforts afforded by the Management with generous support by Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation. He also highlighted that this device would be very important in serving people of the Island and mitigate their suffering.
Dr. Ali Othman, General Surgeon at Sheikh Khalifa Hospital, mentioned that the device would help in removal of stones from liver and kidney. He also commended the concern of Khalifa Foundation with expanding medical and treatment services to include all departments with high quality.
Assistant Doctor Abdel Moaz Hassan, Operations Head at Sheikh Khalifa Hospital, asserted that the hospital added one of the most important medical devices that would be helpful for people of Socotra, and would be positively reflected on mitigating suffering of travelling abroad to have treatment.
