Ataya Model School celebrates Mother’s Day and opens the Annual School Activities Exhibition

On a joyful day, Ataya Model School for Primary Education in Socotra Governorate organized a celebration on the occasion of Mother’s Day yesterday, as part of student activities.

The celebration witnessed official attendance, parents, mothers, faculty and students of our school, who added to the ceremony joy and pleasure by participating in the mother’s annual clinic.

The ceremony also witnessed the inauguration of the annual school exhibition of school activities, which illustrated a number of students’ creative works.

In the ceremony, which began with verses from the Holy Quran, the head of the local leadership of the Transitional Council, Engineer Raafat Al-Thaqali, congratulated the mothers on the occasion of their annual holiday, which falls on March 21st of each year.

Al-Thaqali said that the mother was a teacher and a model of idealism, sacrifice and patience, and she represents the life of her family, and celebrating with her today represents a response to her for what she provided for this life and her leading role in it.

Al-Thaqali praised the efforts of the Khalifa Foundation and its continuous support for the education sector on the island, including the establishment of this first model school for basic education on Socotra to raise the level of basic education for our students.

For his part, Raed Al-Juraibi, Senior Deputy Governor, expressed his happiness for his participation in the Mother’s Day celebration and the opening of the school exhibition of school activities, which translated the ideas and creativity of Ataya Model students.

Al-Juraibi thanked the first education supporter, the Khalifa Humanitarian Foundation, for all its efforts to improve the reality of education in the Archipelago.

Agent Raed Al-Juraibi confirmed that the local authority is in contact with officials of the Khalifa Foundation to add a number of classrooms to the school due to the benefit it has achieved since its opening in raising the level of basic education on the island.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Ms. Amal Saeed, the principal of Ataya Model School, welcomed all attendees, stressing that the occasion of Mother’s Day is one of the occasions that the school is keen to celebrate annually in appreciation of the positive role of the mother in this life.

Saeed expressed her thanks to the Khalifa Foundation, the first supporter of the school, for all the continuous support it provides to the school to advance the reality of basic education.

Ataya Model School students expressed their happiness at participating in the Mother’s Day celebration, thanking the faculty for their efforts to make this event a success.

The ceremony included a number of artistic and theatrical performances that embodied the greatness of the mother and her steadfastness in the face of all challenges and her role in strengthening family ties and building society.

The ceremony was attended by Sultan Ali Issa bin Afrar, Chairman of the Development Committee, Director of the Education Office Ahmed Ibrahim, Police Director Brigadier Ali Muhammad Al-Daximi, Dean of the Community College, Dr. Nadim Al-Uzaibi, and a number of parents and families.
