Due to the severe drought that many villages along the western part of Socotra suffered from, Khalifa Foundation continued its initiative “Suqia”. The campaign reached to eight villages across Socotra, three in the western coastline, Alama, Gheba, and Skander; and five villages in Mayha, Qabhaten, Denbehan, Khaila, and Qashana. The campaign also targeted the remaining villages in accordance with the program set by Khalifa Foundation with cooperation of identifiers of districts.
Sheikh Saeed Sulima, Sheikh of Alama, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the United Arab Emirates, Representative of Khalifa Foundation and teams of the Foundation, as they faced all challenges in order to provide the services to the people, who suffered from the lack of potable water. He added that this generous initiative contributed in helping the people of Socotra during such hard time.
Citizen Arif Abdullah Saeed highlighted that Suqia campaign reached to Gheba during hard time, and added that charity of UAE was witnessed in all developmental and humanitarian fields. He also thanked the Foundation and its field teams for the great role.
In this regard, citizen Saeed Ahmed Saeed highlighted that the people of the coastline and Mayha were suffering from drought, and the problem would be solved thanks to the great effort of the teams of UAE, who drilled many wells, and the work would continue in different places across Socotra in line with the program to solve the problem of lack of water.
