In line with promotion of the role of agricultural sector in GDP, hectare and half of cantaloupe and watermelon was harvested in Al Junaina farm in Socotra with support of Khalifa Foundation. The Foundation approved strategies, programs and initiatives to increase the quality of agriculture.
Engineer Eyad Ali Mohamed, Official of Agriculture Sector at Khalifa Foundation, highlighted that Al Junaina Farm was one of the most important farms on the Island. This was a step relating to concerning with agriculture. It was one of the most important steps to achieve food security and sustainability.
He added that Al Junaina Farm and all farms supported by Khalifa Foundation worked on promoting the local market with affordable vegetables and fruits aiming at meeting needs of the people of Socotra.
It was worth noting that Khalifa Foundation, with instructions by its Representative His Excellency Khalfan Al Mazrouei, worked on supporting farms and farmers in Socotra in order to have better harvest and meet part of daily needs of families.
