Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation continuously operates flights to Abdul Kuri Island through a weekly plane to transport the people and humanitarian and service aid to the island.
Abdul Kuri’s plane, designated for flights between Socotra and Abdul Kuri, carried a quantity of dates provided by the Khalifa of Humanity and a water desalination machine after maintenance, which was one of the island’s most important needs, as well as financial incentives for the people of the island.
The sons of Abdul Kuri received 61 cartons of dates as part of the Foundation’s efforts to distribute dates to all regions of the Socotra archipelago, where the total number reached 2,986 cartons, equivalent to 21 tons of dates, benefiting more than 14,000 families in the archipelago.
The official of the local authority on the island, Sheikh Ghaleb Al-Jamahi, explained that the efforts of the Khalifa Foundation on the island are great and worked to break the isolation that the island has suffered from over the previous decades by establishing an airstrip and operating flights between the island and Socotra.
Al-Jamhi pointed out that the quantity of dates reaching the island has an impact in meeting the population’s need of them. Al-Jamhi valued the humanitarian, service and development cooperation provided by the Foundation to Abdul Kuri Island and its keenness to advance its reality for the better.
The citizen Hadid Abdullah stressed that the UAE is the main and real support for the island of Abdul Kuri and its people in various aspects and fields. He said, “We are pleased with the arrival of the plane to the island, carrying a quantity of dates and a water desalination machine, which is important for the sons of Abdul Kuri in desalinating drinking water.”
Citizen Nasser Mohammed praised the efforts of those in charge of the Khalifa Foundation and their eagerness to ensure that the island of Abdul Kuri receives its share of the development and humanitarian support it provides to the archipelago in general, including the amount of dates that have been distributed to all regions of Socotra today.
The Khalifa Foundation had established a runway for flights on Abdul Kuri Island to facilitate the process of transporting the people and their requirements in various circumstances and to break the isolation that the island suffered from.
