During the workshop held by Development Committee in Socotra, Engineer Mohamed Al Aani, Executive Director of Dexam Power and Water Technology, highlighted projects and achievements of the company with support of Khalifa Foundation.
Engineer Mohamed Al Aani presented the outstanding support by the United Arab Emirates in different fields, and highlighted that Khalifa Foundation supported operating 5 power plants on the Island.
He also highlighted that the first and biggest power plant was “Adnoc Plant” in Hadiboh with 7 MW capacity. Number of subscribers of this power plant were 700 subscribers with an operating cost AED 10.800 Million.
He also mentioned that Sheikh Zayed Power Plant 1 worked with a capacity of 3 MW providing services to 400 subscribers and operating cost AED 7.200 Million. Furthermore, he highlighted that Sheikh Zayed Power Plant 3 in Muri and Sheikh Zayed Power Plant 5 in Qalansiyah worked with a capacity of 1.5 MW of each with 1070 subscribers.
Engineer Mohamed Al Aani added that Socotra would witness one of the most important projects on the Island, which would be the environment-friendly solar power plant, that would be the first in the Middle East with a capacity of 2.5 MW.
In turn, Sheikh Ghanin Saeed Al Zahqi, Identifier of Nujed Tribes, commended the effort of Khalifa Foundation in delivering electricity to all homes across Socotra.
He also highlighted that works were moving quickly to complete projects and provide people with electricity.
Sameh Abdullah Moqbel, Identifier of 30th November in Hadiboh, asserted that the Socotra Archipelago would witness improvement in quality of life in different fields including electricity, which would contribute to stability of life in Socotra.
