Ahmed Abdullah Al-Rajdehi, the promising poet, won the second group card of the Socotra Poet competition for the children’s category, as he qualified for the final of the competition, unanimously by the jury.
The competition witnessed a great competition last Friday evening between three poets of the children’s category, which was held within the framework of the Sultan Ali bin Isa bin Afrar Heritage Festival, with the support of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation and in coordination with the Office of the Ministry of Culture.
The three competitors presented distinguished poetic poems that varied in explaining the nature of the island, its customs and traditions, as well as the Emirati humanitarian and development efforts in the archipelago, which came out of the brotherly relationship that binds the island’s people with the United Arab Emirates from ancient times.
The winning poet Ahmed Abdullah Al-Rajdehi expressed his happiness for qualifying for the final round in the first competition for the children’s category, which would encourage them to pay attention to Socotra poetry to preserve it from disappearance and loss. Al-Rajdehi praised the support of the United Arab Emirates represented by the Khalifa Foundation in organizing this beautiful heritage event.
The poet Salem Suleiman Sherakd, member of the jury, said that the Socotra poet competition for children represents a great opportunity to discover the talents of children in the systems of poetic verses in the Socotri language, and this in itself is a great challenge for children who were raised in a social and family environment that mixes Arabic and Socotra words, but the Socotra poet competition showed us talents Many of the participating children have poetic faculties.
Abdullah Saeed Al-Batmahi, member of the jury, indicated that the competition today witnessed a competitive and enthusiastic atmosphere, during which the competitors presented various poems, but the poet Al-Rajdehi was very creative and deserved to qualify for the second group today.
