With wide participation by the people from different places across Socotra, members at Development Committee, Identifiers, Sheikhs, and affiliates of First Marine Brigade, Khalifa Foundation, through the Development Committee, launched a wide cleaning campaign in Muri and entrance of Socotra International Airport near the First Marine Brigade in Socotra. The campaign witnessed a cooperating work including removal of plastic waste, papers and garbage in line with the great concern with making Socotra in general as a destination without waste or garbage. In addition, Socotra International Airport would reflect to the visitors, tourists and guests beauty of Socotra and its value.
Socotra Online was present to reflect opinions of people. In this regard, Sultan Ali Essa bin Afrar, Head of Development Committee at Khalifa Foundation in Socotra, mentioned that the campaign was launched by Khalifa Foundation targeting Muri and Socotra Airport.
Mr. AbdelHaleem Mohamed Abdullah, Director General of Hadiboh Directorate, highlighted the great community engagement and participation of military units, which would be considered as a great indicator to reflect the importance of this campaign.
Mohamed Salem Ahmed, Identifier of Western Coastline, expressed happiness of people of Qadeb to Muri for this campaign, in which they had an active role. The campaign was sponsored by Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation aiming at achievement of waste-free island with no negative places, as everyone was trying to show beauty and developing aspects of the Island. He also concluded by expressing his thanks and appreciation to the United Arab Emirates and Khalifa Foundation for the humanitarian and fraternity role in Socotra.
Sheikh Ahmed Ghaleb bin Yaqoub, Head of Western Coastline Tribes Association, expressed his happiness for this campaign targeting Muri and Socotra Airport, which would reflect beauty of Socotra. He also asserted that Khalifa Foundation always support the people of Socotra through developmental, humanitarian and service initiatives and projects. Khalifa Foundation has become an integral part of our society and our main supporter.
